Nantucket Weddings Unveiled

Nantucket weddings planning your wedding

Flower

Pods, Berries, and Vines, Oh My!

With Labor Day just around the corner so comes the change in seasons.  While the grocery stores and retail outlets get ready for fall and Halloween treats, many September  island brides choose to keep a late summery feel to their wedding flowers.  Here are a couple of tips to achieve balance and have things look season appropriate without inviting a fall harvest to your table.

Mix berries in shades of reds and honey colors with a pop of chartreuse.  Instead of mixing the tried and true red and orange, lighten it up with a honey-colored hue and greens that have a lighter tone.  A golden peach color is a softer look and helps to transition that feel of late summer days.

If you want to incorporate orange, keep it light-hearted and use fruits – oranges in fact, and mix them with some care-free peach gloriosa lilies or orchids for some fun tropical flair.

Mixing colors of the same intensity gives off the look of a casual summer garden.  Ask your floral designer to mix different shaped blooms – large garden roses, delicate lady’s mantle, carefree sweetpea trailing throughout with the smooth, shiny leaf of galax.  You are sure to evoke those lazy days of summer as your guests sit down for dinner.
