Hello everyone, and Happy spring! We’ve missed posting about all things Nantucket Weddings and are so happy to be back in action!

While running our Nantucket Weddings Unveiled blog it became apparent that our readers were looking for more than just great tips for having a Nantucket wedding but also tips on getting that Nantucket style into their main land weddings.

To that end, we have decided to refocus our efforts to embrace the style that is Nantucket. So many people visit our beautiful island and while they may not be getting married here, they do want to have some of that ‘special something’ that brings them back to the charm this island holds on their big day. You’ll be able to take our ideas, tips from pro’s, and the styles we bring you and infuse it all into your big day – no matter where your wedding location is.

All About Flowers – Delphinium

Delphinium are a quintessential flower on Nantucket during the summer months. Derived from the Greek word “delphis,” meaning dolphin, delphinium are also commonly known as larkspur. Other names include Lark’s Heel, Lark’s Claw and Knight’s Spur. Used by Native Americans and European settlers to make blue dye, it’s believed that the most ancient use of delphinium flowers was for driving away scorpions.

The July birth flower, these lush, dolphin-shaped flowers symbolize an open heart and ardent attachment and convey a feeling of lightness and levity.

Hydrangeas and Your Escort Table

We are back today with another amazing creation from Griffin-vites. A bride having a Sconset wedding this past September asked Sarah to incorporate hydrangeas in to her escort table signage. Didn’t this come out beautifully! A different way to let your guests know where they are sitting – this is great for outdoor weddings where there may be a breeze.

The look of the island is fresh, clean and coastal…. with a fair amount of ‘preppy-ness’ thrown in the mix. Visitors can’t help but notice the abundance of lush hydrangea bushes, as well as the multitude of locally made Nantucket baskets.

Ice, Ice Baby!

With the temperatures dropping outside it got us thinking about ice. In the wedding world, that translates to diamonds. There is no doubt that the royal wedding next spring will have a big influence on fashion and trends in the coming months. We saw this inspiration board on Snippet and Ink and immediately saw the ring that looked similar to Princess Diana’s. Which got us thinking – what is your style in wedding rings? Do you have a family heirloom that is passed down, are you a princess cut, will your ring be all diamonds, or are you going to make a bold statement with color? We’d love to hear about it.

Winter Warmers For Your Cocktail Hour

This chilly weather got us thinking about what makes this time of year so great. Hot cider, peppermint cocoa, chai tea lattes, mulled wine – the list goes on and on. This time of year allows winter brides to bring a unique touch to their big day. Wouldn’t it be great to have some of these drinks set out for guests at your winter wedding? They smell delicious and they help warm up your guest’s hands as they head in from the cold for a night of great food and music as you dance away your reception. Talk to your caterer about incorporating one or more of these for a truly unique beverage bar. Brilliant!
