Griffin-vites Hydrangea Stationery

Sara from Griffin-vites Stationery is here today to share a design perfect for your Nantucket wedding.

Not only is Nantucket a historically charming, romantic and unique place to get married, but it certainly brings forth a ‘style’ all its own. The look of the island is fresh, clean and coastal…. with a fair amount of ‘preppy-ness’ thrown in the mix. Visitors can’t help but notice the abundance of lush hydrangea bushes, as well as the multitude of locally made Nantucket baskets.

Our latest ‘Nantucket’ collection caters to that chic couple, looking to bring a bit of island flare to their wedding papers. From the dark navy and white striped border, the scattered blue hydrangea blossoms and eccentric whale basket topper…. we think we captured the feel of this gem in the sea!

This set is stunning Sara! Thanks for sharing with us. Check out more of Sara’s custom watercolor work at www.Griffin-vites.com

Vintage Nantucket

Being that Nantucket is an old school whaling town there is a ton of history in the island air. From the Nantucket baskets, wooden sailboats and all the vintage pieces you can really feel as if you are stepping back in time. We thought we would honor this history with a simple inspiration board that ties it all together. You can have that vintage island feeling at your wedding by adding in a splash here and there.

Happy first day of Fall! We thought this beautiful invitation set from Griffin-vites Stationery was the perfect kick off to the season.

Custom Nantucket Wedding Map

We welcome Sara from Griffin-vites today to chat a bit about one of her newest offerings!

Here at Griffin-vites studio, we LOVE designing paper for Nantucket weddings. There’s such a classic charm about the island… it’s so fun to translate a fresh, preppy look to the stationery sets. This season, one of our fantastic couples was looking to include a personalized map card within their invitation suite. Here’s a peek at our creation!

With a lot of time spent on Nantucket, our bride and groom are so excited to be holding their wedding in such a special place. Aside from incorporating artwork of all of the lighthouses, listing beaches and showing some well-known icons, they, of course, hoped for illustrations of their ceremony and reception spot (‘connected’ by a path of sweet teeny hearts), along with their rehearsal dinner location. The couple wanted to bring in personal details as well, conveying to their guests their fondness for this amazing coastal spot. With a deep-rooted passion for sailing, they asked that a grouping of beetle cats be featured on the cards — displaying not only their wedding date amid the colorful sails, but also their soon-to-be monogram. A love of the local bakery and sandwich shop in town topped our list of illustration requests, as well as renderings of some beautiful on-island family properties.

Additional touches, such as a large compass rose and Nantucket red ‘ACK’ (the island’s airport code) helped bring that nautical look to the maps. We thoroughly enjoyed creating these unique custom cards and hope their wedding guests are just as excited to receive them!’

Boston Weddings

If you are a bride in the North East then you know and love the magazine. It comes out twice a year and dazzles us with everything we love about New England.

The current issue out on stands now challenged Boston area florists to create luxe bridal bouquets inspired by three very different invitation sets. The feature is called ‘Perfect Pairings’ and showcases one of our favorite artists Sara from Griffin-vites! Check out the stunning apple orchard set that was selected below. Her watercolor artwork is perfect for capturing the texture of the seasons and sophisticated enough for any island wedding. Love the green in these apples!

This shoot is such a great concept…. hhhmmm… maybe something we can take on here at NWU?

Nantucket Vendors Create Vintage Inspiration

There are so many amazing vendors here on Nantucket who help to make your wedding dreams come true.  With the latest issue of Wellwed magazine out on news stands, we thought it would be fun to show you the hard work that goes in to getting some of those beautiful images on the pages you couples use as you gather inspiration for your big day.

Back in early May, vendors got together for the Fall photo shoot of the magazine.  Armed with a color palette and vintage ribbons, this is what they pulled together.

Vendors involved in the shoot included Placesetters, Jodi’s Cakes, Zofia Photography, Marty Kelly Papers and Soiree Floral.

Marty Kelly of Marty Kelly Papers (in the stripes) and Dawn Kelly of Soiree Floral(no, they aren’t related and yes they have been asked if they are sisters) put the finishing touches to the table as they get ready for the stationary close-ups.  Be sure to check out the magazine to see the amazing cake created by Jodi’s cakes.

Coastal Coasters at Parchment

Parchment Fine Papers has so many wonderful invitation sets, occasion cards and gift ideas. But when we saw these coasters we thought they would add that perfect touch to any island wedding or rehearsal dinner. The coastal theme and colors can work for the most sophisticated soiree or your classic clambake.

Or if you are putting together welcome bags for your guests consider adding in a collection of these coasters. Their letterpress designs are stunning and your guest will enjoy memories from your wedding as they use them in their homes.

It’s the little details!

You can visit Parchment at 11 Washington Street in downtown Nantucket.

Custom Invitations with Parchment Continued

With the style of the paper suite established, it made working on the paper-products for the wedding day very easy. For the ceremony program, the pattern was done as a border on the bottom of the cover, almost the same look of the reply card from the invitations. We incorporated another surprise – Jen did the most amazing pencil drawing of the Sankaty Lighthouse which was printed on the back cover of the program. It added a highly personalized touch to the ceremony programs. At the reception site, we had escort cards and on the table, donation cards. For the escort cards, we created a mini version of the save-the-date piece. Again with a grommet in the corner, the guest name was written on the front and the table name on the inside card. Instead of having favors for all the guests, Jen and Carter made a donation to cancer research. They had pins which they invited everyone to wear, in memory of loved ones. To convey this message, we created a card which was inserted into the napkins on the tables. It was double-layer, with a fuschia backer card and white top card. The ink was navy, keeping that color in the mix. Besides giving their guests an important message, the cards added a pop of color to the tables and tied the blues of the paper-suite to the colors of the flowers.

Creating a paper-suite for you wedding can be an overwhelming process. However, your stationer is there to help you! With communication and collaboration, you can create something as beautiful as this collection but reflective of your own personal style. I always advise my brides to bring in pictures of anything they see that they are attracted to. It helps me understand the look they are going for, and gives us a place to start. The wedding invitations really set the tone for the wedding, whether traditional or contemporary, formal or informal… the most important thing is that it reflects the style and personality of the bride and groom.
